ABOUT FOUNDERVILLE

Built for the busines owner who doesn’t have a team behind them

Founderville exists because most business advice is written for companies with marketing departments, HR teams, and outside investors. Local business owners don't have any of that — and they deserve something built specifically for them.

OUR MISSION

To give every small town business owner access to the kind of practical, no-nonsense guidance that used to be reserved for people who could afford a business coach.

The local business owner is one of the most underserved people in the business world. They're running operations, serving customers, managing finances, handling marketing, and making decisions about their livelihood — often entirely alone, often without a mentor, and almost always without enough time to read a 4,000-word blog post that never gets to the point.

Founderville is the resource we wish had existed. Short, actionable, built around the real calendar and real challenges of running a business in a small town. Nothing theoretical. Nothing that requires a marketing budget to apply.

WHERE THIS STARTED

A problem hiding in plain sight

Years ago, I started my own law firm serving technology companies with corporate and commercial legal needs. I also had the freedom to work with small businesses in my community — realtors, coffee shops, beauty salons, consultants, etc. For years I watched small business owners struggle with the same problems over and over — not because they lacked talent or drive, but because the right information simply wasn’t reaching them in an accessible or affordable way. (The Tech companies were sexy and got all the attention and resources. There’s a lot more money available for advisors and service providers going after Tech company clients.)

That observation became Founderville — a straightforward answer to a simple question: what would a trusted, knowledgeable friend tell a local business owner if they could sit down together every week?

What we believe

01

Short beats long

A business owner reading between customers doesn't have 20 minutes. Everything here is written to be read in five or less — and acted on the same day.

03

Practical over theoretical

We don't publish strategy frameworks. We publish things you can do this week, with the tools and budget you already have.

02

Local is a strength

Being part of a community isn't a limitation — it's the single biggest competitive advantage a small business has. We help owners use it.

04

You already know your customers

The best local business marketing isn't complicated — it's consistent. We help owners show up regularly without it becoming a second job.

WHO THIS IS FOR

Written for a specific kind of owner

Trades and service businesses

Plumbers, electricians, landscapers, cleaners — anyone whose work is local, hands-on, and relationship-driven.

Food, drink, and hospitality

Restaurants, cafés, bakeries, food trucks — businesses where community loyalty and local reputation are everything.

Retail and boutique

shops

Owners competing with online and big-box, building a local customer base that comes back because of who you are.

Side hustles going full-time

Anyone building something on the side with real ambitions to make it their main thing — and needing a roadmap to get there.

WHO THIS IS NOT FOR

Founderville is not for venture-backed startups, e-commerce brands selling nationally, or businesses with a dedicated marketing team. There are plenty of great resources for them. This one is specifically for the person running the whole thing themselves, in a community they actually live in.
